Wordle - Adjectives

What's all this business about adjectives?! (I know this is what you're thinking)It's as simple as this: We need them when we write so our writing isn't boring and more exciting! More specifically,  descriptive adjectives, or describing words, allow us to have stronger word choices = a clearer picture for the reader (Think of it as a movie in your head as you read something). Literally, the reader should actually see what you're talking about in their mind! To sum it up,  descriptive adjectives are able to bring writing to life and paint a picture in the readers mind.

Just so we're clear...

With the help from our friends at School House Rock you can learn a little bit more about these amazing words. In this class, we are going to use adjectives to create imagery when we write.

To start, we need to talk about something very serious... the DEAD WORDS.Sure, words like: good, nice, fun, and bad are adjectives. But I know we can do better than that.  Therefore, these words were sadly, never heard from again in this classroom. Look,
Even though we know these are adjectives ask yourself:
1. Are they a strong word choice?
2. Do they create a movie in the reader's head?
3. Can we pick better words to create an image for the reader?
The answer is... yes we can pick better words!

Think about words we can put on each pedal of the flower
to replace the dead adjective.
For example: One word to replace "good" ---> "marvelous"

You might have written: The food was good. What kind of image do you get from this?
Now you can write: The food was marvelous. The description of this food sounds so much better than the description about. Now, you can go on to either tell us the food by using more marvelous adjectives so by the time the reader is finished, they'll want to go eat!
